The September 5 rankings bring two new names into the top ten. Black and Rosser held their places from August 21. Cayden Daughtry climbed into third. NaVorro Bowman Jr. and Asa Montgomery entered the group.

Five guards, several comparisons
Black, Daughtry, Alston and Bowman are the four listed point guards. Diggs is the combo guard. Together they account for half of the top ten.
Black and Daughtry offer the closest comparison by rank, at first and third. Alston and Bowman sit next to one another at eighth and ninth. Diggs is seventh, between the board's only top-ten center and that second pair of point guards.
Those positions make the guard group a useful place to follow the next update. Daughtry, Alston and Bowman all rose between these two editions. Diggs moved from fourth to seventh. The group is crowded enough that a player can remain highly ranked while losing ground within it.
A rank change records a change in the board. It does not, by itself, tell readers that a player's shooting, defense or decision-making improved or declined. Those basketball conclusions need separate evidence.
Rosser and Uvwo are the frontcourt reference points
Rosser, second, is the only listed power forward in the top ten. Uvwo, sixth, is the only listed center. Uvwo moved up two places from August 21, while Rosser stayed put.
That makes their positions within the group worth separating from the guard race. A reader following the highest-ranked center starts with Uvwo. A reader following the highest-ranked power forward starts with Rosser. The overall list brings those different positions together, but it is not a projected lineup.
Henry, Williams and Montgomery make up the three listed small forwards. Henry moved from third to fourth. Williams remained fifth. Montgomery arrived at tenth after the largest rise of this group.
Two arrivals changed the bottom of the ten
Bowman climbed seven places, from sixteenth to ninth. Montgomery climbed thirty-four, from forty-fourth to tenth. They replaced Nasir Anderson and King Gibson in the top ten, with Anderson now eleventh and Gibson sixteenth on the full 2027 board.
Eight members of the August top ten stayed in the group. The first two positions did not change. This update therefore combines continuity at the top with a different pair of names at the cutoff.
Montgomery's jump has its own story on his summer production and rise to No. 10. Bowman's entry deserves attention alongside it. A seven-place rise is less dramatic than thirty-four, but both players crossed the same top-ten line.
The call
I'd keep an eye on the guard group. Five of the top ten are guards, three of those five moved up, and Bowman just entered. Whether that group holds half the places is a more useful question than treating September's order as settled.
