Talent is not spread evenly. We counted the home state of every player on the CBR class of 2027 top 100. Ten states produce 68 of the 100. Here they are, with what each one means if you play there.
1. Florida: 12 ranked players
No shock. Year-round basketball, loaded travel circuits, and academy programs that import talent. If you play in Florida you face ranked players regularly, which is good for your film and brutal for your stat line. See every Florida recruit on the board.
2. Georgia: 10 ranked players
Atlanta's metro leagues are as deep as any city's in the country. Georgia's ranked players come from powerhouse publics like Wheeler and McEachern as much as from academies.
3. California: 9 ranked players
The state's top end runs through Sierra Canyon and the Trinity League, and California's board counts them by home state, so the nine include kids who suit up for academies far from home.
4. Texas: 7 ranked players
Football state, sure. But Texas put the No. 1 player in the class on our board, and Dallas's academy scene is a national player.
5. North Carolina: 6 ranked players
North Carolina produces perimeter players: five of its six ranked 2027s are guards or wings, topped by the No. 2 player in the class.
6. Arizona: 6 ranked players
The academy capital, but the six are mostly homegrown: Arizona's ranked players are Phoenix-area kids, even before counting the out-of-state stars its academies import.
7. Wisconsin: 5 ranked players
The overperformer. Wisconsin has five top-100 players, more per capita than every state above it except Georgia, including a Duke commit whose last name you already know.
8. Missouri: 5 ranked players
St. Louis basketball is quietly elite: four of Missouri's five ranked players come from St. Louis-area programs, two of them from Vashon alone.
9. Illinois: 4 ranked players
Chicagoland travels well: Illinois's four all play for academies out of state, and two are ranked in the top 50.
10. New Jersey: 4 ranked players
Two of New Jersey's four play at Blair Academy, the in-state boarding power, and the other two left for national academies.
What this means for your recruitment
If you play in a top-10 state, coaches already scout your leagues. Your job is to be findable when they do. If you play outside them, your film has to travel for you, because coaches will not. Either way the process is the same, and it starts with the recruiting roadmap.
