The Big 12 has more. The SEC has better.

The case for the Big 12

Count first. Six ranked pledges to five. The SEC's two Top 25 names are real. They are also the entire quality argument. After Hudson at 22 the SEC list is Missouri at 29 and then two players in the 80s.

The Big 12 list starts later and stays thicker. Mercer at 32 to Cincinnati. Jamison at 34 to Baylor. Delancy at 41 to Houston. Then Iowa State took Donovan Davis at 47, Jack Kohnen at 52, and Josiah Harrington at 55. Three ranked names in one program is a class. One Kentucky pledge and one LSU pledge is two press releases.

A conference that can put three ranked players on one roster in the same cycle is doing the work this board is supposed to measure. The SEC has the prettier two. The Big 12 has the class.

VerdictI'd take the Big 12. Six names, three of them in Ames, and a class that is actually being built instead of collected.

Three ranked names in Ames is a class. Two Top 25 names is two press releases.

The case for the SEC

Marcus just praised Iowa State for collecting 47, 52, and 55. That is a good weekend in Ames. It is not a better class than Kentucky plus LSU.

Hampton is No. 19. Hudson is No. 22. The Big 12's best pledge is Mercer at 32. The first Big 12 name is thirteen spots behind the first SEC name. Adkinson at 29 to Missouri still beats the entire Iowa State cluster on the board.

Volume in the 50s is how a conference talks itself into a win. The board already told you who the best pledged players are. They are in the SEC. I'd take those two over the six that start at 32.

VerdictI'd take the SEC. Hampton and Hudson are the only Top 25 pledges in this fight. The rest of the card is a mid-board pile.
