The basics
Ater plays for Principia High School in Missouri. ESPN lists him at 6-foot-10 and 180 pounds. On3 lists him at 6-foot-9 and 180. Listed as a C at Principia, and he appears on the Missouri board. Status: uncommitted.
The boards
ESPN ranks Ater No. 10 in the class. On3 listed Rivals No. 30 nationally and Missouri No. 1. Prep Hoops' Max Wagner wrote that he is still a very raw prospect, with all the potential in the world given his length and how well he moves at that size, and that he has flashed a nice looking three-point shot. Prep Hoops' Aaron Proia pointed to straight-line drives and emphatic putback dunks.
The recruitment
ESPN lists him undeclared, with Missouri on the school list. On3 listed offers from Missouri, Saint Louis, and Virginia Tech. He is uncommitted.
What to watch
Wagner already used the word raw. The swing skill is whether the three-point flash becomes a nightly closeout problem for college bigs.
