The basics
Gibson, from North Carolina, played at The Burlington School and Montverde Academy before following coach Kevin Boyle to SPIRE Academy in Ohio, per 247Sports. He is listed at 6-foot-4 and 185 pounds. Listed as a CG at SPIRE Academy, and he appears on the North Carolina board. Status: committed to LSU as of October 4, 2026, per ESPN.
The boards
247Sports' Adam Finkelstein called him the leading scorer for one of the country's best teams, with improving three-point shooting and solid perimeter defense and rebounding, while still developing as a primary ball-handler. Prep Hoops described one of the more polished guards in the class, able to hit perimeter shots, get downhill, and block shots from the guard spot.
Production
The EYBL Scholastic site lists 15.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.0 assists a game on 48 percent shooting and 48 percent from three for SPIRE. 247Sports reported similar splits, 47 percent from the field, 46 from three, 80 from the line.
The recruitment
ESPN reported on October 4 that Gibson chose LSU over Arkansas, Louisville and Providence. Earlier offer lists and visit plans described an open recruitment and should be read as historical context.
What to watch
The shooting numbers on a loaded team are the best argument for the On3 ranking. The open question is the Finkelstein note: how much primary ball-handling he shows when SPIRE's roster changes around him.
