The case for Gaskins
Same body. Same class. Same home state. The difference is what each line already proved in public.
Gaskins has a dated box score from Peach Jam: 20, 5, and a block in July 2025, per CanesInsight. He has four reported offers from that same month. Prep Hoops had him No. 2 nationally in a January 2025 look at the class and called the offensive approach relentless. Phenom Hoops wrote that he attacks downhill and defends multiple positions for his size.
McDaniel's ESPN rank is higher than ours. That is Wes's whole case. A rank from one outlet is not a better public record than a named event line plus four schools on the card. I'd take the player whose production already showed up at Peach Jam.

The case for McDaniel
Dale wants the Peach Jam night. I want the skill set ESPN already wrote down.
ESPN ranks McDaniel No. 2 in the class, behind only JJ Crawford, and calls him a mature two-way player. Playmaking. A low handle. Rebounding. Turning deflections into points. The Jalen Williams and Derrick White comps are style notes from ESPN, not a career promise. They still tell you what the evaluator thinks the job is: a 6-foot-7 wing who can run a possession, not only finish one.
The 247Sports U16 line is 17, 10.1, and 4.6 assists through eight games. That assist number is the one Dale does not have on Gaskins. Gaskins has the offers. McDaniel has the creation. In a class this young, I would rather bet on the wing who already makes the other four better.
Our board has Gaskins first. ESPN has McDaniel higher. I am saying the ESPN read is the better fit bet, and I would live with being wrong on the CBR number.
VerdictI'd take McDaniel. ESPN has him second in the country and already talking about a two-way wing who can pass. That is the harder skill set to find at 6-foot-7.
