The money
NJCAA D1 programs can offer true full rides: tuition, room, board, and books. NJCAA D2 covers tuition, fees, and books but not housing, and NJCAA D3 offers no athletic money. NAIA programs work with 8 scholarship equivalencies and can stack academic aid on top, which is where NAIA offers get competitive with NCAA D2.
The clock
JUCO is two years by design. That resets more than academics: a player who grows two inches or two levels in junior college gets recruited again, this time with college film against college players. NAIA is a four-year home with its own eligibility rules and its own national tournament.
How coaches use each route
Four-year coaches treat JUCO as a proven-player market and recruit it hard every spring. NAIA coaches recruit like D2 staffs: later than D1, regionally, and they answer direct email. Either way the move is the same one the roadmap teaches: film plus transcript to the coach who runs recruiting.
